Pipebots is an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded programme grant which has a vision to move forwards failure free operation of buried pipe water and drainage networks through the deployment of autonomous inspection robots. This autonomous robot platform can potentially cover the whole pipe network and be present in it over a prolonged period.
Thesis: Numerical simulation of sound propagation in pipes in application to robotic sensing and navigation
- Simulated acoustics wave propagation in a pipe with a range of artefacts.
- Studied the influence of the presence of a robot in the pipe on the waveform recorded on the microphone deployed on the robot.
- Made sensible modifications to the robot’s body shape and materials to minimize the influence of the robot on the acoustic waveform reflected from the in-pipe artefacts.
Awards & Honors:
International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship: £ 33,900 2019 – 2024
- This scholarship was awarded to a student in recognition of his/her academic potential. International Merit Scholarships are competitive scholarships that the University awards to selected international applicants each year, out of its commitment to support those who demonstrate academic excellence. As well as providing evidence of academic achievement, scholarship applicants must submit a short personal statement that explains how studying at Sheffield will help them to achieve their goals.
NCUK Foundation Course Scholarship 2nd place: £ 3,000 2019 - 2024
- The scholarship was awarded to a student who took the 2nd place of the course.
Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Scheme Bursary: £ 1,250 Summer 2023
- The Sheffield Undergraduate Research Scheme (SURE) offered funded opportunities for undergraduate students from any discipline to work in partnership with an academic staff member on a dedicated research project during the summer vacation. A student whose application was successful received a living costs bursary of £1,250, funded by the university.
Engineering Excellence Scholarship: £ 3,000 2019 – 2020
- The University was committed to rewarding and supporting students who demonstrate academic excellence.
